The SKY RC Q500neo 1000W Four Port Smart Charger has been designed to provide everything needed to charge four batteries at high currents simultaneously ‘under one roof’, including a mains power supply, with simple operation and the ability to communicate with the SkyCharger app. The Q500neo allows you to charge and discharge common battery types (NiCd, NiMH, Li-poly, Li-ion, Li-Fe, Li-HV, Pb); furthermore, all channels are equipped with built-in six-channel balancers, which ensure very safe and convenient charging of lithium batteries.
The intelligent software offers standard functions and is designed for practical users who purchase the charger to charge batteries; at the same time, it allows control and monitoring of the charging process on a PC or via the SkyCharger app on a smartphone using Bluetooth:
- a programme for new types of ‘high-voltage’ LiHV lithium batteries with a charging cut-off voltage of up to 4.35 V
- settings for charge and discharge cut-off voltages for lithium batteries (enabling gentler charging, favoured by pilots, or, conversely, deep discharging, preferred by ‘model car enthusiasts’)
- programmes for charging maintenance-free lead-acid AGM batteries and for charging lead-acid batteries at low temperatures
- measurement of total voltage and the voltage of individual cells (for lithium batteries), even when not charging or discharging
- measurement of the internal resistance of the entire pack and of individual cells (for lithium batteries)
Overview of basic functions and parameters
- Input supply voltage 9–36 V DC (to utilise the charger’s full capacity, the power supply should provide a voltage of at least 22 V)
- Mains supply 100–240 V/50–60 Hz
- For charging and discharging 1–15 NiCd/NiMH cells, 1–6 Li-ion/Li-poly/Li-Fe/LiHV cells, or 6/12/24 V lead-acid batteries with liquid electrolyte and maintenance-free AGM batteries
- Adjustable charging current: 0.1 A – 15.0 A in channels A/D, 0.1 A – 25.0 A in channels B/C
- Adjustable discharging current (0.1 A – 2.0 A)
- Max. total charging power: 500 W when mains-powered or 1000 W when powered by a DC source (A+B+C+D = max. 1000 W at a supply voltage greater than 22 V; when using 2 channels B+C = max. 1000 W; individual channels: B/C = max. 500 W, A/D = max. 250 W)
- Max. discharge power 10 W
- Automatic charge termination using the delta-peak method for NiCd and NiMH batteries
- Lithium and lead-acid batteries are charged using the ‘constant current/constant voltage’ method
- Adjustable sensitivity of delta-peak detection for NiCd and NiMH batteries
- Adjustable cut-off voltages for charging and discharging lithium and lead-acid batteries
- Repeated charge/discharge or discharge/charge cycles for NiCd and NiMH batteries, up to 3 cycles
- Three charging modes for lithium batteries – normal charging, charging with emphasis on balancing, and storage charging/discharging
- Three charging modes for lead-acid batteries – for standard lead-acid ‘car batteries’, for lead-acid AGM batteries (batteries with electrodes separated by a glass-fibre separator impregnated with electrolyte) and for charging lead-acid batteries at low temperatures (-20°C to +5°C).
- Charging stops when the set time or charge capacity is exceeded.
- Measurement of the total voltage of the pack and individual cells (for lithium batteries)
- Measurement of the total internal resistance of the pack and individual cells (for lithium batteries)
- Capable of operating as a stabilised DC power supply with an adjustable voltage of 1.0–30.0 V and current of 0.1–15 A in channels A/D or 0.1–25.0 A in channels B/C
- Bluetooth 5.0 module for wireless communication with the SkyCharger app
- USB-C port as a power supply/charger for mobile devices with the PD3.0 protocol, up to 100 W
- Backlit LCD display with a simple and clear menu and parameter display during charging/discharging
- A range of warning messages ensures safe operation – incorrect input voltage, incorrect connection, unsuitable battery or battery condition, incorrect output polarity, etc.
- Protection against reverse polarity and short circuits at the output.
- Fan for forced cooling.
- Compact plastic housing, small dimensions
- Built-in mains power supply.
The charger is equipped on all channels with XT60 output sockets and universal sockets for JST-XH service connectors, allowing you to connect battery power cables and JST-XH service connectors for 2–6S packs directly – if you use packs with XT60 and JST-XH connectors, you can do entirely without charging cables and adaptors. To connect service connectors from other systems, you can use standard Sky RC or RC System adaptors.
Note: When charging lead-acid batteries, the charger allows you to set the cut-off voltage to 2.30–2.75 V per cell – making it suitable for charging conventional lead-acid batteries (car batteries) and gel batteries with reversible valves, as well as gas-tight gel batteries, which must not be charged to more than 2.30 V per cell.
The charger set includes: the Q500neo charger, a mains cable and a user manual.
