The XLPOWER Nimbus 550 V2 is a 550-class electric RC helicopter for pilots seeking precise control, strong performance and a practical airframe. It suits both developing aerobatic skills and intensive 3D practice, where rapid changes of direction alternate with manoeuvres requiring fine control. The kit lets you choose electronics that match your own flying style.
The structure combines 2.5 mm upper carbon frame plates with components made from 7075 aluminium alloy. The compact 120° cyclic servo layout provides direct linkage paths and an efficient arrangement of the mechanical components. Full-size servo support gives pilots a broad choice of specifications and robust equipment for regular training.
The rotor head uses 1:1 control geometry shared with larger XLPOWER designs. Its linear mechanical ratio helps maintain a predictable relationship between input and cyclic or collective response. A CNC-machined main gear and dual one-way bearing arrangement form a strong foundation for power transmission. The manufacturer recommends 550–570 mm main blades and a 6S LiPo power system.
A redesigned tail rotor with a teetering hub complements the airframe's focus on smooth operation and accurate heading control. Practical details include a quick-release battery tray, quick-release canopy mounts and convenient access to the transmission and electronics. An optional rear battery connection system further simplifies preparation between flights.
