KAVAN Redy Acro 1385mm Kit

REDY Acro is a sporty aerobatic glider/motor powered glider for relaxed “Sunday“ flying enjoyed by newcomers and skilled pilots as well. REDY Acro kit is a great thing for anybody who wants to build his models all by himself in the old fashioned way of balsa, plywood and hardwood sticks. The building is easy a goes forward quite nicely; you can choose whether to build a glider or electric powered glider. REDY Acro maybe is not an ideal very first model for a newcomer without any previous experience, but if you have built at least “something of balsa and sticks”, you should not have any problems.

This builder’s kit of a RC glider/electric powered glider is a perfect project for a modeller wanting to build a really good model for sporty “Sunday“ flying. The well-thought design with CNC cut interlocking parts fitting together like pieces of a puzzle makes the building a breeze.

The fuselage is a simple „box“ of balsa sides, top and bottom sheets and plywood formers and braces. The rudder and servos are located under the wing; the ESC, receiver and battery have their dedicated place in the “cockpit” under the removable canopy hatch with a magnetic lock. The plywood firewall for the electric version as well as the tow hook for the bungee launch are also included in the kit.

The one-piece wing sports a flat-bottomed wing section making the building very easy; it is of a classic design with CNC cut balsa ribs, hardwood stick main spar with balsa shear webbing and beech dowel leading edge for high strength at low weight. The full-span ailerons are controlled by a pair of servos via short carbon push rods. The wing is secured to the fuselage with rubber bands.

The empennage is made of CNC cut balsa sheets with balsa and carbon reinforcements. The elevator and rudder are controlled by servos located in the fuselage with piano wire “snake” push rods.

You can use an iron-on film for covering - lightweight transparent KAVAN or Oracover® are preferred.

Radio: You will need at least four channel radio to control your REDY Acro; however, a computer, at least six-channel radio for independent aileron servo control and airbrake mixing would be much better. Good 6 g micro servos (0.7-1.0 kg.cm torque) are required for the aileron, elevator and rudder; the servo tray supplied in the kit is tailored to the KAVAN GO-6MG servos. Four-cell AAA 4.8 V 800 mAh NiMH battery would make a great receiver battery for the glider.

The electric version will be happy with the KAVAN PRO 2225-1600 brushless motor driving 8x6“ folding propeller with 30-32 mm spinner, KAVAN R-30B Plus or KAVAN PRO R-30SB ESC with 3S LiPo 11.1 V 750-1200 mAh flight pack. If you ever considered upgrading to the “full-house” aileron and flap Thermic wing, you should go for the recommended KAVAN ESCs (or similar) featuring a powerful switched BEC required to power 6 servos right away.
